Now that fall has graced us with its cooler temperatures and beautiful scenery, we know that Halloween is just right around the corner. Whether or not you are handing out candy this year, here are some of our favorite activities for the Halloween Season from us at ConnectCareHero.

  1. Halloween Themed Movie Night: Are scary movies not your thing? That’s okay, most of us are not a fan of being scared; however, most of us are open to a Halloween-themed movie night! Your Community can have an enjoyable time with some Halloween classics, like “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Beetlejuice”, and “Ghostbusters”. What are some of your favorite Halloween-themed movies? Feel free to let us know.
  2. Decorating Pumpkins: When it comes to decorating pumpkins, there are two ways of doing this; one, you can carve out pumpkins to make Jack-o-Lanterns. Making all sorts of wacky faces and placing candles inside of them is a great way to showcase the carved pumpkins. Two, you can also paint your pumpkins. If you’re concerned about safety regarding using carving tools, then painting is a wonderful alternative. Whether your pumpkins are Halloween-themed or not, soon you’ll be surrounded with wonderfully carved or painted ones for this season.
  3. Sharing Scary Stories: What’s a spooky season without some spooky stories. After all, some people may have a “Somewhat” Scary story to share. If not, it’s not a bad idea to read a scary story from the internet or from a book. Or, even better, how about booking a dynamic reading vendor through our booking platform to tell some spooky stories. Whichever you feel works best, your senior citizens will definitely love to hear any type of story, scary or not scary. Do you have a spooky story you like to read? Be sure to share it with us.
  4. Senior Living Trick-or-Treating: Still want that Halloween excitement, all while staying indoors? You’re 100% allowed to do so! There’s nothing wrong with getting candy for everyone in your community. Now, you may be wondering how to do this. Well, how about setting up candy stations throughout your building. Whether they want candy or not, Halloween is for everyone regardless.
  5. Costume Party: What about dressing up? After all, it’s tradition to wear a costume and go trick-or-treating for candy. Don’t have any costumes to wear, then that’s no problem, have your older adults get creative by using any creative materials you have. You can make all kinds of simple costumes for everyone. In fact, why not throw a costume party to showcase everyone's costumes?

Even though you might be celebrating Halloween inside this year, we can still make Halloween happen. Whether or not you’re doing a costume party, painting or carving pumpkins, sharing or listening to scary stories, gathering candy, or having a Halloween movie night, you can still make this Halloween memorable for everyone. Let us know what fun Halloween activities you might be doing this year with your community.
