Winter is Coming (Well, technically it’s here already. And yes that’s a Game of Thrones reference). And now we’re all cooped up inside for the season. Even if Winter isn’t a favorite season for many, there are still some things, besides the holidays, that you can do to keep your older adults entertained. Here are some more ideas for you during this winter season.

  1. Create some Paper Snowflakes: Paper Snowflakes are a fun craft activity anyone can do. You may want to fold everyone's paper beforehand, as they could be a bit complex for your older citizens. All you’d really need is some paper and some scissors. With the folded paper, and the scissors, just cut out some shapes and make some interesting designs. After all, no snowflakes are exactly alike. Also, be sure to hang them up somewhere for everyone to see.
  2. Design some Christmas Ornaments: Another fun thing for the holidays would have to be decorating a Christmas Tree. Have your Adults make their own ornaments to hang on a tree you have. These can be either paper or with some blank ornament bulbs. You can just color them, or make some cute designs on either material.
  3. Indoor Chair Yoga: Yoga overall is a great exercise to do, especially during the winter. And Chair Yoga is the best option in this case. Not only is this method a safer method for older adults, but it’s also a great stress reliever. Just be sure to practice for about 45 minutes for any two days of the week.
  4. Grow some Christmas Flowers: If you know of the Christmas flower, also known as the Poinsettia, Then you can start a Christmas-themed flower garden. Luckily, there are red and white-colored Poinsettias. All you have to do to take care of them is to spray them with water. Have everyone take turns watering and spraying the flowers, and soon you’ll have a wonderful Christmas-themed flower garden.
  5. Christmas Karaoke: I’m pretty sure we all love listening to or singing Christmas songs. Do you have some adults who like to sing the classics? How about hosting a Christmas-themed Karaoke day. It can be all the old classics, or some of the new Christmas-themed music if anyone likes them.
